Planets Closest to the Sun!

Step One:
Pencil in outlines
  • Think about the size of planets
  • Think about which planets come in front of others
  • You may not want ALL the planets. You may want to focus on the closest to the sun.

Step Two:
Begin to pencil in details on planets then pastel in the detail.

Step Three:
PVA over the top of the artwork, and add glitter. Alternatively, you can flick white paint or use a silver pen to add stars.

Walking in Space!

Give this idea a go!

On A4 paper, draw around your feet. Add in details of shoes, then doodle away! Go over in vivid. Cut out.

Take a piece of A3 paper and draw a shape for a planet. Add in detail with paint and pastels. Use water colours. PVA over the watercolours and add on glitter.

Glue feet over the background.

Foot Rocket

What you need: Black paper, white+silver footprint, pastels, a photo of you.

METHOD:
Step One: White footprint
Step Two: Draw on the red tip, wings and fire.
Step Three: Stick on photo
Step Four: Draw in stars.

Individual Mandala Art

Today we all began to create the first draft of our individual art projects for this term. It was really exciting watching the various tangents that different children took! Some children used inspiration from the Mandala wall, some looked back on their previous artwork and used this to jot their ideas, some children looked at the shapes of their circles and saw a 'bigger picture'! Very interesting to see that individuality begin to stand out!

SPACE Wallpaper Art!

Today I was looking through google, trying to find something really creative that we could do for Space Art. I was inspired by some of the wallpapers that include space symbols - like planets, aliens, moons, stars... I thought this could be a good place to start... but lets extend ourselves and make it our own!

Here are the steps for creating your own Space Art Wallpaper :>

Step One:
Using a piece of scrap paper, practice drawing some simple space objects. Look at some of these images below for inspiration. JUST REMEMBER - you will be drawing these objects again and again, so it is up to you how detailed you make it!

Step Two:
Take a piece of A3 paper and fold it 4 times into rectangles (eg. fold once in half, then again, then again, then again!) You should end up with 8 rectangles. (To make it MORE detailed, fold it again! More work, but a detailed end product!)

Step Three:
In ONE of the squares, create a pattern with some of your chosen objects - it may be the same space object drawn again and again (such as stars in different colours), or it may be a group of space object in a pattern. Here is a simple example:

Step Four:
Now unfold your paper one more square and repeat this pattern.

Step Five:
...And again!

Step Six:
...And again!!!

Step Seven:
Now think about colours. Once you have finished, PLEASE take a screen shot and blog it with a link to these instructions - your art may inspire others!

Floating Spacemen

Room 9 at Tamaki Primary are skilled artists. They really enjoy creating art with Mrs Manuyag, but with their own flair - to make it unique to them.

Today, we created floating spacemen - integrating art with our Inquiry this term - 'Earth and Beyond.'

Here are the steps if you want to do the same!

Step One:
Trace around your hands and feet onto a piece of A3 or A2 paper. Some of us found it easier to do this with a buddy helping us. Your hands should be in the top third of your paper, and your feet in the bottom third.

Step Two:
Now add a circle for your space helmet. This will be above your hands (but going behind your hands).

Step Three:
Then, add in your body shape. This can take a bit to get right, so it is easier to do in pencil. I have shown you below where to do your beginning lines, before joining it all up!

Step Four:
Now add your detail and colour! Here are some of the finished examples from Room 9. Enjoy!

Look what Ma'asi found!

Ma'asi found this piece of Mandala art this weekend and emailed it to me. I love the way the artist has used the dots inside the tear drops, as well as simple lines to add effect.

Great find Ma'asi!
